CSU offers access to mylifeexpert, a platform designed to help students and staff. Through this platform, students can access mental health, legal, and business resources, along with a library of negotiated discounts to national and regional retailers. Cleveland State University (CSU) maintains its own police force.
In addition to its police force, CSU has implemented an array of security measures, including:
- Mechanical Key System: A proprietary key system for controlled access.
- Electronic Card-Access System: Enhancing security through electronic card-based entry.
- Optical Turnstiles: State-of-the-art turnstiles to manage access.
- Alarm Systems: Providing alerts in case of emergencies.
- Emergency Blue-Light Phones: Strategically placed for immediate assistance.
- Emergency Mass Notification Systems: Ensuring timely communication during critical situations.
- Advanced Fire Alarm Systems: Detecting and responding to fire incidents.
- Video Surveillance: Utilizing nearly 1,000 cameras for enhanced monitoring and safety.
Contact CSUPD during an emergency:
- Call CSU Police by dialing 9-1-1 on any campus phone. Tell the operator immediately that you are a CSU student so they can put you through to CSUPD instead of the city of Cleveland. CSUPD are on campus and will get to you most quickly!
- Emergency blue-light phone stations are placed around campus. Press the button to alert CSUPD.

All wireless infrastructure at CSU has been upgraded to modern equipment as of February 2024. Increased bandwidth has also been purchased, reducing outages dramatically.

CSU has lots of great things to do near campus, and all students receive an RTA U-PASS for those journeys that are a bit longer.
Some parts of the city to explore include:
- Downtown – Accessible immediately from campus, this section of the city is home to the Arcades (historical shopping malls, not the video ones), Public Square, East 4th, and Restaurants.
- Playhouse Square – A home to the bulk of Cleveland’s theatres, Playhouse Square also features numerous restaurants, the Playhouse Square Chandelier, and the City Club of Cleveland
- AsiaTown – A short RTA ride away, this section of Cleveland is home to an Asian Supermarket, Asian Restaurants and festivals depending on the time of year.
- Little Italy – Also accessible by RTA, this area is home to some of the best food in the city. With college staples like Mama Santa’s, this is one tasty part of the city.
- Ohio City – Home to the West Side Market, Mitchell’s Ice Cream’s kitchen, and many urban trails, this area is a can’t miss.
- The Flats – Featuring Jacobs Pavilion and waterfront restaurants such as Collision Bend Brewery, this is the place to be when the weather is warm.
- EdgeWater Beach – Yes, Cleveland has beaches! EdgeWater is an amazing place to relax in the Sun.
